Frequently Asked Questions

How do I set up the camera?
Set your iPhone at hip height, 3 to 4 metres away. Stand side-on, with your full body in the frame, and use good light. When the three readiness checks show READY, you can start.
The rep count looks wrong. What can I do?
Use +1 and -1 under FIX COUNT to correct the count during the workout. For better counts, stand side-on, keep your full body in the frame, and keep other people out of the frame.
What does the five-swing check do?
You do five comfortable swings on camera. SwingCoach gives you one clear observation and a three-session starter plan. The last session repeats the check, so you can compare with your baseline.
Can I skip the five-swing check?
Yes. Tap Skip assessment on the setup, camera, or check screen. The Train tab opens without the check.
What workouts can I do?
Open training lets you swing at your own pace and finish when you are ready. Rep goal lets you pick 10, 20, 30, or 50 swings, or set your own count. The workout ends when you reach the goal. You can pause, resume, or end at any time.
Do I need an Apple Watch?
No. The iPhone camera does the counting. With a paired Apple Watch, you also see heart rate and active calories, start, pause, and end the workout from your wrist, and save the workout to Apple Health. The Watch app needs watchOS 10 or later.
The Watch app does not show up. What can I do?
Open the Watch app on your iPhone, find SwingCoach in the list of available apps, and tap Install. Then open SwingCoach on the iPhone and keep both devices near each other.
Does SwingCoach record or upload video?
No. Pose analysis runs on your iPhone with Apple Vision. The app records no video and uploads no camera frames. If you turn on Keep key rep snapshots, the app saves still images of the hinge and the lockout on your iPhone only.
Is SwingCoach free?
Yes. SwingCoach 1.0 is free. It has no in-app purchases, no ads, and no account.
How do I delete my data?
Delete the app to remove all SwingCoach data from your iPhone. Workouts that the Apple Watch saved to Apple Health stay in the Health app, where you can delete them. Read the full Privacy Policy for details.
Which devices does SwingCoach support?
SwingCoach is an iPhone app for iOS 17 or later. It runs in portrait. The optional Apple Watch app needs watchOS 10 or later.

Quick Tips

  • No room to swing? Try the camera setup with slow hip hinges. Push your hips back with your arms long, then stand tall.
  • Hear the cues: SwingCoach speaks a short cue when a fault repeats, so turn up the volume before you start.
  • Train safely: Clear the space around you before you swing. SwingCoach gives movement estimates from a 2D side view. It is not a medical or injury assessment.
