Sajdah 1.6.0: a new Today screen, the Prayer Screen and the Athan in 13 voices

Sajdah (سجدة) 1.6.0 is out for the Quran and Athan app for Apple TV. This update is about the moments around prayer: what you see when you open the app, what stays on the TV between prayers, and the call to prayer itself. Here is everything that changed.

In short

• A new Today screen with the verse of the day at the center
• The Prayer Screen: full-screen prayer times in 6 styles
• The Athan in 13 voices at every prayer
• New art for the morning and evening Adhkar
• A What's New screen after each update
• Many design and Arabic text fixes

A calmer Today screen

Today is the first thing you see when you open Sajdah, so it should feel quiet. In 1.6.0 the verse of the day sits at the center of the screen, with room to read it from the sofa.

Your next prayer now lives in a prayer bar that takes one line, so you can see the time without a large panel in the way. Below it, shorter cards take you to the rest of your day:

• Continue listening from the surah where you stopped.
• Adhkar for the morning and the evening.
• The hadith of the day.

The Today screen and your next prayer time are free.

The Prayer Screen

The Prayer Room is now called the Prayer Screen. It shows the day's prayer times full screen and stays on your TV, so the whole room can see the times between prayers.

There are 6 styles to choose from, and all of them are part of Sajdah Premium. If you do not have Premium, you can watch a free preview first and then decide if you want to upgrade.

The Athan, on time, at home

With Sajdah Premium, the Athan plays at every prayer on your Apple TV. Pick your favorite of 13 voices, and Sajdah uses it for each prayer of the day.

New art for the morning and evening Adhkar

The morning and evening Adhkar cards have new art: a drawn desert at dawn for the morning, and the same desert at dusk for the evening. The Adhkar stay free.

A What's New screen

After an update, Sajdah now shows a short What's New screen, so you can see what changed without a visit to the App Store.

Design and Arabic text fixes

This release also has many small fixes to the design across the app, and to how Arabic text shows on the TV.

What is free and what is Premium

Sajdah stays free to download. Quran recitation, verse-by-verse reading, the Today screen with your next prayer time, and the Adhkar are free.

Sajdah Premium adds the Athan in 13 voices, the full prayer schedule and Qibla direction, the Prayer Screen in all 6 styles, Quran radio and live TV, Ambient Quran Mode, memorization tools such as verse repeat, A-B repeat and playback speed, word-by-word highlighting, all translation languages and transliteration, and the extra Quran fonts.

How to update

If automatic app updates are on, your Apple TV installs Sajdah 1.6.0 by itself. You can also open the App Store on your Apple TV, find Sajdah, and choose Update. To see what came before, read the Sajdah 1.5.0 release notes. Questions or ideas? Write to me through Sajdah support.
